Campus Resources for Students
The Office of First-Year Experiences encourages collaboration across academic, administrative, and campus resources outside the classroom to sure students are able to access the wide range of support services available to Virginia Tech undergraduates.
Our partners include:
Academic Integrity is the primary resource for preventive programming and academic accountability for undergraduates. The office supports the FYE program through class presentations so new students understand the university’s honor code.
Career and Professional Development: CPD works to assist all students at Virginia Tech, in all majors, throughout their journey to employment. The department offers a series of career fairs and workshops to help students land their first job.
Cook Counseling Center: Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center provides opportunities for students to learn more about themselves as individuals, form deeper relationships with their peers, and grow to benefit our community. The Cook Counseling Center staff provides these learning opportunities through individual and group counseling, psychiatric care, psychotherapy, and educational programming.
Cranwell International Center: Cranwell International Center exists to support international students, amplifying their contributions to the Virginia Tech community, and to create a more globally oriented and internationally connected institution.
Dean of Students: The Dean of Students is committed to offering care and support to students so they can flourish. The office’s staff are mentors and advocates who can assist with personal, social, and academic challenges.
Global Education Office: GEO supports Virginia Tech’s mission of global engagement, discovery, and service by connecting our faculty and students to their peers abroad. The office provides advising, scholarship information, and faculty support for the university’s study abroad programs.
Hokie Wellness: Hokie Wellness provides health and wellness services to help students live their best life. The program provides workshops and resources on a range of topics, including alcohol, substance misuse, mental health, nutrition, sex, sleep, and financial literacy.
Multicultural Academic Opportunities Program: This is an academic success community founded upon the principles of mentoring and peer support that is dedicated to support diversity and inclusion within the student body.
First-Generation Student Success supports students who are the first generation in their family to attend college. This office provides resources, programming, information, and works directly with first-generation students. It also provides guidance to faculty interested in engaging first-generation students in their course or academic program.
Recreational Sports: Rec Sports provides opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to engage in physical activities to create healthy lifestyle habits. The department manages the fields, exercises facilities, courts, and intramural sports available to all students on the Blacksburg campus.
Schiffert Health Center: Schiffert Health Center is Virginia Tech's on-campus health care center. With a clinical staff of 17 doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, the clinic can administer care for a wide range of medical concerns.
Student Engagement and Campus Life: Student Engagement and Campus Life is the source for information about student organizations, employment opportunities for undergraduates, student centers, and local events.
Student Success Center: The Student Success Center provides support for undergraduates through peer academic coaching, tutoring, scholarships, first-year student grants, and outreach to students from underserved communities.
University Libraries: The goal of University Libraries is to foster innovation, discovery, creativity, and collaboration through spaces, technology, services, and people. These resources are available to students and faculty members.
Veteran Services: The Office of Veteran Services ensures that veterans and military-connected students are provided the resources necessary for a successful transition to Virginia Tech. Students served by the office have access to Veterans Affairs education benefits certification, mentoring, assistance in navigating the VA health and disability systems, and connection to other support organizations.
VT Engage partners with community organizations to create service-learning opportunities for students. The program also provides leadership development for undergraduates through national and international organizations.
