How to Become an FYE Course
FYE Course Attribute Certification and Grant Application 2022-24
The First-Year Experience program at Virginia Tech offers students the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and perspective needed for a successful academic transition to the university, their major, and their future careers.
Each course incorporates five Essential Practices: Effective Teaching & Learning, Virginia Tech Principles of Community, Mentorship & Engagement, Digital & Information Literacies, and Undergraduate Academic Integrity.
Eligibility:
Academic units (departments, schools, colleges) are eligible to apply for FYE Attribute Certification and grant funding support.
Funding:
All certified courses will be considered for base funding as part of this certification/grant proposal process.
Certification Process:
To receive certification, this application must be submitted no later than March 4, 2022. Re-certification of the attribute will occur on a two-year cycle. New course certifications will be accepted on an annual basis.

- Submission Deadline: March 4, 2022
- Year 1 Funding Transfer: July 15, 2022 (target)

- Year 2 Funding Transfer: July 15, 2023 (target)
